I am a retired Professor of Biomedicine at Lancaster University. I have been a lifelong fellwalker and always interested in nature and the environment. Human driven climate change is the greatest challenge of our time that could profoundly alter the planet for future generations. I want to do my bit to reverse the damage we have done.

I am a retired secondary school teacher. I have lived in the Arnside/Silverdale area since 1985 and brought my children up here. My interests are the climate, art (continually trying to improve my skills), gardening and family. I believe that anyone who is considering the future, for themselves, their grandchildren or for society generally, must put climate change at the top of their list of priorities. It’s a no brainer.

Rachel has lived in Arnside for 27 years.  She is a retired marketing manager and worked for a domestic heating manufacturer.  She joined Sustainable Arnside because she was part of the most profligate generation but wants a better future for her children and grandchildren.

Dan's bio

Arnside is the place that Dave and I chose to settle in and bring up our four daughters over 20 years ago. We have always felt fortunate to be able to have this choice to live in a beautiful place with such an active local community. I worked for 30 years in local government in Public Heath, Health Improvement and Environmental projects. In the last 10 years I have had more time to develop my skills as an artist, concentrating on printmaking techniques such as linocut and screen printing. I am pleased to have been a member of Sustainable Arnside since it was established and with the help of volunteers and skilled repairers launched the Arnside Repair cafe in 2024, which has been very well supported by the local residents.
