Help and Advice
Trying to reduce your carbon footprint and live a sustainable life can be a confusing and difficult challenge. Often there are trade offs and uncertainty about the consequences of our actions. But as environmentalist Heather White eloquently put it, “Individual action drives culture change, and without culture change, global policies and market solutions will not work”. On these pages are some of the ways we can help you to reduce your carbon footprint. Find out more about our Repair Cafe, which meets about once a month and where trained volunteers will try and mend your broken household items - better to repair it rather than throw it away and buy a new one! In the winter we offer Thermal Imaging surveys in collaboration with Futureproof Cumbria where one of our volunteers will accompany you around your house with a thermal imaging camera to try and locate cold spots and areas that might benefit from improved insulation. Also we have advice on the complex world of Recycling, indicating where you can take various items locally.
