About the event
The evening will start at the EI and we will do a circular walk of less than a mile visiting some of the swift nesting sites in Arnside. One section of the walk crosses the cricket playing field. The rest is on roads and pavements. The evening will finish back at the EI where people can stay on to observe the last evening behaviour of the swift colony occupying the EI buildings.
If the weather is completely unsuitable, the event can be re-scheduled for Friday 13th 8pm for those that wish to attend on the following evening.
SITC (Swifts in the Community)
SITC was founded by Peter Moreton over 10 years ago. Its main objective was to establish swift conservation groups in local towns and villages in South Cumbria and North Lancashire. Groups are active in Arnside, Silverdale, Milnthorpe, Heversham, Burton, Kendal and Ambleside. Swift nest locations are discovered…
